CITY OF DAISETTA ANNOUNCES RESCHEDULED GRAND OPENING OF NEW COMMUNITY CENTER
7/14/2026
DAISETTA, TEXAS — The City of Daisetta has announced the rescheduled date for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the new Daisetta Community Center. Originally postponed due to inclement weather, the celebration will now be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
Community members, elected officials, project partners, and distinguished guests from across Texas are invited to attend as the City officially opens a facility that will serve residents for generations to come.
The new Daisetta Community Center, funded through the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, represents one of the most significant community development investments in the City's recent history. Designed as a multi-purpose facility, the center will provide space for community meetings, educational programs, civic events, volunteer initiatives, family celebrations, emergency response operations, and countless opportunities for neighbors to come together.
The completion of the Community Center marks the culmination of years of planning, partnership, and perseverance. Residents have watched the project evolve from an idea into a reality, and the finished facility stands as a lasting investment in the future of Daisetta.
The vision for the Community Center began several years ago as city leaders pursued funding for a dedicated community gathering space. Through the collaborative efforts of elected officials, city staff, engineers, architects, grant administrators, contractors, and community partners, that vision became reality.
An official groundbreaking ceremony was held on August 16, 2024, marking the beginning of construction. Like many large construction projects, the Community Center experienced challenges and delays along the way, but steady progress continued until the facility was completed.
"This is a day our community has looked forward to for a long time," said Mayor Cindy Burchfield. "Although we were disappointed to postpone the original ceremony because of the weather, we are excited to finally welcome everyone into this beautiful facility. The Community Center belongs to the people of Daisetta, and we look forward to seeing it filled with neighbors, families, and community organizations for many years to come."
The Community Center project benefited from the dedication of numerous elected officials, city staff members, project partners, and community advocates over several years. The City recognizes Mayor Cindy Burchfield, along with current and former council members, for their support of the project and commitment to improving opportunities for residents throughout the community.
The City of Daisetta extends its sincere appreciation to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, GrantWorks, Labiche Architectural Group, Fitz & Shipman, G&G Enterprises, current and former elected officials, city staff, community organizations, volunteers, and the many residents whose encouragement and support helped bring this project to completion.
The Grand Opening ceremony will feature remarks from local and state leaders, recognition of project partners, an official ribbon cutting, and tours of the facility. Guests are expected to include representatives from state agencies, regional organizations, community development partners, local government officials, and project stakeholders from across Texas.
Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to tour the facility and enjoy refreshments while celebrating this exciting milestone in Daisetta's history.
